Many top clubs around the world have long established youth development programs. None have been as successful as Barça’s La Masia Academy. Nine graduates of La Masia: Iniesta, Xavi, Gerard Piqué, Carles Puyol, Sergio Busquets, Pedro Rodríguez, Víctor Valdés, and Pepe Reina were members of Spain’s World Cup-winning squad in South Africa in 2010. Followed later that year by Messi, Iniesta and Xavi winning the top three places at the FIFA Ballon d’Or; the first time ever that the world’s best player award had been contested by three graduates of the same youth program.
We feel very fortunate to have Albert join us to share his wisdom.
